A Great Movie to See
We went to see Sound of Freedom on Sunday. It was released only in theaters on July 4, and it is now #1, making over $100,000,000 (up to today, July 20) overpassing Mission Impossible & Indiana Jones, in spite of being silenced by Hollywood, Disney, Amazon & Netflix.
It is the amazing true story of Tim Ballard, a former Homeland Security agent who after rescuing a boy from ruthless child traffickers, learns that the child’s sister is still captive, and he decides to embark on a dangerous mission to save her. He goes undercover deep into the Colombian jungle putting his own life on the line to free her and hundreds of other children from child sex slavery.
Initially I thought I would not have the courage to see it, but I’m so glad I did. There’s nothing a 13 year old cannot see. There are only a few heartbreaking scenes, but it is not hard to see. I truly think the movie is a work of art. The actors, the cinematography, the subtlety with which they navigate the topic is truly praiseworthy.
Child sex trafficking is a real problem and unfortunately, it is not exposed as it should be by mainstream media. The US is the major consumer, and pedophilia is a world epidemic. It’s estimated to be a $150 Billion dollar a year industry.
Tim Ballard was a special agent in the Dept. of Homeland Security, working as an undercover op for the U.S. Child Sex Tourism Jump Team. He is also the founder and CEO of Operation Underground Railroad (O.U.R.), which locates and rescues endangered children victimized by sex trafficking rings.
The producer and director of the movie are showing it on Capitol Hill on July 25 in hope of passing legislation to prevent the trafficking of children.
Here’s the trailer of Sound of Freedom and here’s an interview of Jim Caviezel and Tim Ballard by Jordan Peterson where they go into depth on the psychology of pedophilia, the nature of good and evil, and how a steady faith in God has guided all three.
Here are the showtimes and website. I recommend this movie with all my heart.
