As children, we see ourselves in the eyes of those we love and respect.
Shame often begins in childhood through experiences with parents, siblings, peers and others.
Children are susceptible to feedback and learn at a very young age what behaviors elicit praise or disapproval from others. Repeated experiences of embarrassment, rejection, humiliation or/and disapproval can become internalized, shaping a child’s self-concept and belief systems.

In a Dark Place or Just Been Planted?

July 11, 2023 2 Comments

Sometimes when you are in a dark place you may feel you have been buried, when in fact you have been planted.
This quote by Christine Caine holds a profound truth about hardship and struggle. When we are going through difficult times, it can feel like we are trapped in darkness with no hope or escape. The quote suggests that what feels like being buried in darkness may actually be a planting – […]

J. Krishnamurti walking on the beach

This is a story about J. Krishnamurti, the great Indian philosopher and spiritual teacher. For over 50 years he travelled all over the world, speaking, teaching trying to explain in words concepts and ideas that are beyond words. This article was originally published in Lion’s Roar Magazine. It was also published in the Spanish edition of Lion’s RoarMagazine.
Below is my latest article on Lion’s Roar Magazine. In it I reflect on my experience moving from Argentina to the USA, and then to Paris, France, and how my perception of life transitions completely changed in the process.

To be fully alive, fully human, and completely awake is to be continually thrown out of the nest. […]

Dealing with Our Own Difficult Emotions

August 13, 2018 2 Comments

The end of June wrapped Annapolis with a blanket of deep sadness as we could feel so close to us, what the seed of hatred, resentment and violence could be capable of. This was right in our neighborhood. It happened to people whose names were familiar to the Capital Gazette readers. We feel deep compassion for them and their families, and even for the perpetrator who is obviously seriously sick to commit such a horrendous act. […]
