The Retreats will provide the participants with the opportunity to:
- Learn strategies to be present and skillfully become aware of distractions that arise out of dwelling in the past or in the future.
- Learn strategies to distinguish between what is really happening and what one perceives out of a self-created mental narrative that clouds a person’s perception of reality.
- Learn mindfulness tools to reduce emotional and physical stress as mindfulness practices can calm down the areas of the brain, namely the limbic system, where stress, anxiety, fear and anger are generated.
- Learn mindfulness tools to bring awareness to automatic and habitual reactivity patterns and make space for an appropriate response resulting in skillful decisions and improved professional relationships.
- Learn how to use the practice of mindfulness to reduce burnout, compassion fatigue and increase enthusiasm for empathy.
- Learn how to cultivate self-compassion and reduce self-criticism. With an awareness of thoughts and emotions, the participants will learn tips on how to shift their emotional regulation strategies to better respond to situations, and they will learn how to experience and process emotions differently, resulting in less anxiety, less depression, less self-criticism.
- Learn how to reduce rumination and worry, and decrease undesired mental traffic, allowing to focus on what is really important.
- Learn mindfulness tools to increase focus and concentration.
- Learn mindfulness tools to increase cognitive flexibility resulting in improved decision making.
- Learn strategies to listen in ways that improve communication.
- Learning lovingkindness, compassion and gratitude practices can redirect focus on the good, and reset our “happiness” set point.
- Learn Qi Gong movements that awaken energy gates connecting to universal energy to achieve balance. Eliminating Qi stagnation in our meridians will help the body, mind, and spirit function in harmony. These Qi Gong practices release spinal stagnation and open a profound circulation of energy. Qi Gong and meditation bring a bright wakefulness and concentrated, embodied presence that help us discover who we are beyond our stories.
The Science of Mindfulness
Mindfulness practices have been shown to provide many benefits for counselors and health care providers in numerous studies, including the the ones cited in American Psychological Association, the Journal of the American Medical Association, The New England Journal of Medicine, and Annals of Family Medicine
Attendance Policy
To qualify for CE credit, participants must:
- Arrive on time and sign-in at the CE table
- Stay until the end of the program,
- Sign-out at the end of the program,
- Turn in the evaluation and pick up the certificate.
- No partial credit for partial attendance.
The cost of the CEs is $30 and it is payable at the end of the retreat when you receive your certificate
