Why Should I Take a Silent Retreat if I Live Alone?
Being in a silent retreat gives you the opportunity to specifically set aside a time to train your brain to see clearly without the distractions available at home. Distractions – phone, emails, social media, TV, refrigerator, food, books, etc. – that we resort to when we feel uncomfortable with challenging thoughts and emotions.
On retreat, you will learn how to face your emotions instead of running away from them. You will be guided on how to deal with whatever comes up in the moment.
A daylong silent retreat gives you the opportunity to set an intention for the day, and engage in a mindfulness practice along with a community of people working towards the same goal: bringing mindfulness to their lives.
The energy of all the people on retreat is conducive to realizing our goals.
Why a Retreat?
A mindfulness retreat allows you to step out of the complexity and busyness of your life and to listen deeply to your body, heart and mind.
The central practice on our retreat will be mindfulness, a time for reflection, a time to witness what is going on inside you, a time to experience the present moment with no judgment, accepting what is. In this silent and mindful environment, the body quiets, awareness sharpens, the mind clears, and space opens for insight and understanding to develop.

What is a retreat like?
This retreat offers an opportunity for practicing mindfulness and meditation. This will open our hearts and minds to see the ways in which we create unnecessary worries and challenges in our lives.
It will help us discover the freedom we can all experience when we let go of our habitual thinking patterns. There will be training on how to work with what we are experiencing.
We will bring loving kindness and self-compassion to our experience through guided meditations, and we may discover a way to be in harmony with the realities of life.
We encourage participants to maintain silence. In this silent and mindful environment, we can shine the light of awareness to our present experience, we can allow the body to relax, and the mind to open up for clear seeing and understanding to develop.
As a result, this retreat may provide a way to get to know ourselves better. We may discover that we always have a choice to live each moment either with inattention, fear and judgment or with awareness, clarity and kindness. This silent retreat will help us deepen our self-awareness, and will provide us the opportunity to explore our path to inner freedom, joy and a peaceful heart.
